Our Emerald Isle Explorer adventure begins in Belfast, the charismatic capital of Northern Ireland. After arriving and completing scrutineering and documentation, there will be time to begin discovering this fascinating city, from the maritime heritage of the Titanic Quarter to the atmospheric streets of the Cathedral Quarter.

This evening, we come together for our welcome dinner, meeting fellow crews over seasonal Irish cuisine and traditional folk music as we prepare for the great journey ahead.

The adventure begins in earnest as we leave Belfast and immediately take to one of Ireland’s most spectacular roads: the Causeway Coastal Route. Our journey follows a dramatic coastline of cliffs, beaches and hidden coves, with stops at Carrick-a-Rede, Ballintoy Harbour and the legendary Giant’s Causeway.

By afternoon, we arrive in Portrush, a characterful seaside town with a Victorian promenade, sweeping surf beaches and dramatic coastal headlands.

Today we cross from Northern Ireland into the Republic of Ireland, following the coast towards the wild landscapes of County Donegal. With views across Lough Foyle, we pause near Derry/Londonderry before heading into the remote Inishowen Peninsula.

The afternoon brings an exhilarating drive through Glenveagh National Park, where mountains, lakes and remote valleys create one of Ireland’s most spectacular wilderness landscapes. We finish in the historic heart of Donegal.

Leaving Donegal behind, we follow the rugged Atlantic coastline before turning inland through the winding roads of the Blue Stack Mountains. Rejoining the Wild Atlantic Way near Mullaghmore, the landscape opens towards the sea once again.

As we approach Sligo, the dramatic outline of Benbulben dominates the horizon. This evening, there is time to discover Sligo’s riverside cafés, galleries and beaches, or simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Ireland’s literary heartland.

Today we venture deeper into the landscapes of western Ireland, travelling through the country immortalised by W.B. Yeats. The route winds around Lough Arrow before heading into the remote countryside surrounding Ballycroy National Park.

We continue through the peaceful landscapes of County Mayo and along the shores of Lough Mask, eventually arriving in the beautiful village of Cong, famous for its abbey ruins, wooded walks and timeless atmosphere.

Leaving Cong, we turn southeast into Ireland’s peaceful rural heartland. The roads lead through rolling farmland, wooded valleys and charming villages before we pause for lunch overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Derg.

Continuing through the countryside, we eventually arrive in Adare, one of Ireland’s most celebrated heritage villages, renowned for its thatched cottages, elegant architecture and historic character. This evening, we enjoy a gourmet dinner celebrating the finest seasonal produce of western Ireland.

Today we head west towards County Kerry, exchanging the gentle farmland of Ireland’s interior for the mountains and lakes of the southwest. Our route follows historic roads and quiet country lanes towards Killarney National Park.

Here, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as mountain roads wind between lakes and wooded valleys. We stop at Muckross Abbey and Torc Waterfall before arriving in Killarney, where we settle into our country retreat.

Today we pause in Killarney, allowing crews to enjoy the town and its extraordinary surroundings at their own pace. For those seeking adventure, optional activities include golf, horse riding and a traditional pony-and-trap excursion into the Gap of Dunloe.

Lunch is at leisure, with a choice of cafés and traditional pubs in the town centre, before we come together again this evening for a relaxed group dinner.

Today brings one of the great driving experiences of the Emerald Isle: the legendary Ring of Kerry. We begin beside the tranquil waters of Lough Leane before climbing into the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range.

The road twists through Molls Gap and Ladies View, with sweeping panoramas across mountains, valleys and lakes. After lunch in colourful Waterville, we continue onto the spectacular Skellig Ring, where the Skellig Islands rise dramatically from the Atlantic.

Leaving Killarney, we change our pace and head east towards Cork, following scenic country roads through market towns, farmland and peaceful countryside.

Our journey takes us to Blarney, where we stop for a traditional pub lunch before visiting Blarney Castle and its legendary stone. By mid-afternoon we arrive in Cork, leaving time to explore the city, browse the famous English Market or stroll beside the River Lee before dinner.

This evening, we come together at one of Cork’s celebrated restaurants for a dinner showcasing the region’s exceptional culinary traditions.

Leaving Cork, we follow the coastline east through County Cork, where rugged headlands, golden beaches and fishing villages provide a constantly changing backdrop.

We pause near the historic seaside town of Youghal, before turning inland towards Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city. Founded by Viking settlers more than a thousand years ago, Waterford provides a fascinating blend of maritime history and modern Irish life.

Today we turn north towards the mountains and forests of County Wicklow, entering a landscape of winding roads, wooded valleys and spectacular mountain scenery.

We pause in Glendalough, where we explore the remains of its extraordinary medieval monastic settlement, founded by St. Kevin in the sixth century. From here, we continue to Macreddin Village, our peaceful retreat in the heart of the Garden of Ireland.

Our final driving day begins with a gentle journey through the rolling hills and wooded glades of County Wicklow as we make our way towards Dublin.

As the landscape gradually gives way to the capital, the adventure reaches its conclusion. We arrive in the heart of Dublin for a celebratory finish, where our cars are securely stored and we transfer to our five-star hotel for an evening of relaxation and celebration.
